Here are the highlights of AutoCAD 2022 by Autodesk

Architects and designers worldwide continue to use this long-established digital drawing and drafting tool. Several new features of AutoCAD's newest edition streamline the design process and integrate automation tools to meet the needs of today's digital world. The program's user interface has been upgraded to improve the user experience. Along with the desktop versions, Autodesk also released AutoCAD 2022 and AutoCAD LT 2022 for Mac.

Features of AutoCAD 2022

Tool sets related to Industry Specific

A variety of industry-specific toolsets, such as Architecture, Mechanical, and Electrical, are included in AutoCAD 2022. These toolsets include libraries containing hundreds of thousands of intelligent parts, symbols, and features. As part of its productivity study, Autodesk tracked the time saved by its specialized toolsets.

Share

Users can generate Share links that open in AutoCAD's web app. It enables designers to share drawings securely and directly from AutoCAD. It assigns different levels of control and access to recipients, such as View-only access or edits access.

Trace

Designers and collaborators can view and edit AutoCAD DWG files using the Trace application from any device, including the AutoCAD mobile app and web applications. As soon as users reopen AutoCAD on a desktop to incorporate the changes, the feedback collected via Trace appears in the context of the DWG file.

Count

The program calculates the number of blocks or geometry within an AutoCAD DWG file and exports the results to an easy-to-update table. This tool allows users to conduct quantity takeoffs or count parts.

Floating Windows

Floating windows have been the request of many Autodesk users. Multiple drawings can be viewed and edited simultaneously with floating windows without needing to switch between drawing tabs and open and close different AutoCAD files.

Autodesk Docx

AutoCAD users can easily convert their CAD drawing sheets to PDFs in Autodesk Docs without saving the PDFs locally or uploading them to the cloud manually. As well as Autodesk Docs and Autodesk Drive, users can also access files stored in cloud storage sites, like Google Drive and Box, via the AutoCAD web app.

Autodesk for Mac

You can easily repeat commands with custom shortcut keys, including Recent. Cloud storage can block updates to a library across multiple devices. You can sort Blocks in the Blocks palette by name or by type. The Blocks palette allows you to insert a drawing as a block from any tab.

Even if a different block definition already exists, rename the block definition when inserting a block. Export layouts now include visible and out-of-bounds objects from the current layout as well as objects outside of the bounds of the paper. Using Export-layout, you can create a visual representation of the current layout of a new drawing in model space.

You can configure keyboard shortcuts in the Customize dialog box by clicking the Shortcuts tab. You can now access AutoCAD through Autodesk Drive and Autodesk Docs, as well as other cloud storage options.

Cost

There is a 30-day trial version of AutoCAD 2022 available for download now. AutoCAD is only available through subscription, and it costs $220 for a month, $1,775 for a year, or $4,795 for three years. As new features and product updates are released, AutoCAD has a flexible subscription model.

The AutoCAD subscription includes access to seven industry-specific toolsets for architectural, mechanical, and electrical design. A subscription to AutoCAD LT costs $440 annually. With AutoCAD products, you can also get a free mobile app with the purchase of the $55/year AutoCAD mobile app.

Wrapping it Up

Architects can now design and draft on their desktops and mobile devices using AutoCAD 2022 and the existing AutoCAD web and mobile apps. Drawing templates, plot styles, and other support files can be added to DWG files to create DWG files that follow their company's or client's drafting standards.
