The Legal BIM Frontier: New Contracts and Recent Case Developments - An exclusive event on BIM

WPL Publishing is going to sponsor an event entitled as "The Legal BIM Frontier: New Contracts and Recent Case Developments", highlighting the latest legal developments concerning building information modeling (BIM) technology and how these developments are persuaded by construction professionals. The webinar will continue for 90 minutes and be held on Feb. 12, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. (EST).

BIM execution involves a multifaceted new set of risk-allocation and management challenges. To cope up with the situations, numerous sets of BIM contract addendums and implementation guides have come out from diversified institutes. But if BIM is applied perfectly, it can lessen claims and legal issues to a great extent.

The webinar will facilitate the construction professionals to realize and deal with issues in this area.

Upon completion of the webinar, the attendees can perform the following activities:

  • Walk around risk management concerning digital information necessary for initiating a BIM project.
  • Apply supplementary BIM contract forms to include to standard project contracts.
  • Set up a BIM execution plan for a new BIM project.
  • Use the concepts of the information manager, project participant, and contributor to plan staffing for a BIM project.

Rebecca McWilliams, an attorney and licensed architect will perform as the keynote speaker. She focuses her practice on helping design professionals by offering contract reviews, business entity advisement, risk management evaluations, claims monitoring, and associated legal services. She has in-depth knowledge on BIM and sustainable design projects. Before starting her legal career, she practiced architecture for 10 years, with a portfolio including single- and multi-family residential units, design-build retail, commercial offices, religious facilities, condominiums, and K-12 public schools.

After her presentation, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.

Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price.
