How BIM is considered as useful collaboration tool for real estate developers

Aconex, the leading solution provider in cloud collaboration platform for the worldwide construction industry, has tied a knot with the Real Estate Developers' Association of Singapore (REDAS) to implement Aconex Connected BIM and other collaboration technologies for forming a collaborative project surroundings for its member developers.

The motto of this alliance is to enhance collaboration, workflow management and productivity among architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and contractors in the Singapore real estate value chain.

Now-days, several real estate value chain partners apply BIM to present electronic drawings to the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) for sanction. But they are unable to employ the functionalities & features of BIM as well as gain its complete advantages. The pilot project will facilitate these value chain partners to strongly control and distribute BIM models amid their whole project teams in accordance with pre-defined workflows.

The strategic alliance among REDAS and Aconex will facilitate using the cloud-based Aconex platform that unites multi-company teams to allow project-wide collaboration for handling all documents, drawings, BIM models, communications, and workflows.

Connected BIM expands the Aconex platform for dealing with BIM data and procedures for making sound collaboration connecting design and construction teams and surrendering to the owner.

This joint venture will make a sea change in revising existing method in the real estate and construction sector. With this pilot project, REDAS can employ leading cloud supported construction collaboration technique for 10 member developers.

The 10 member developers associated with this pilot project are Allgreen, Bukit Sembawang, CapitaLand, CDL, CEL, Far East Organization, Frasers Centrepoint, Guocoland, Keppel Land, and Wing Tai. Here each will recommend a particular live project to initiate the Connected BIM approach to identify and evade design clashes in the initial phase, lessen rework, speed up construction schedules, and handover secure, superior and more sustainable built assets.

Once the project is completed, a complete and perfect set of organized project information together with the model as well as all of the documentation connected to each of its objects, and an audit trail can be submitted to the owner for operation.

Designers for particular disciplines can generate and revise BIM models in their indigenous authoring tools and apply simple software plug-ins to upload them in the Aconex BIM Cloud. On the Aconex platform, all the team members involved with project ranging from other designers, engineers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and owners will be able to analyze, allocate, mark up, and contribute to model data at the object level.
