CertainTeed Gypsum Makes BIM Models Available Online to Building Design Community
22nd March 2010
Valley Forge, PA - Aligning with the fast-growing trend toward Building Information Modeling (BIM), CertainTeed Gypsum announced the introduction of BIM objects for building, design and construction professionals' use in project design, specification and scheduling.
The objects are available through Reed Construction Data's proprietary SmartBIM Library™ and include details and systems incorporating: GlasRoc® Sheathing and Tile Backer; ProRoc® Gypsum Board and ProRoc® Moisture and Mold Resistant Gypsum Board with M2Tech™. Providing CAD BIM Model users with access to manufacturer-specific systems in context makes it easier for design professionals to streamline project specification and workflow.
"By leveraging CertainTeed Gypsum's BIM offerings, building and design pros can easily visualize projects, improve design quality, reduce change orders and improve project scheduling," says Doug Gehring, director of marketing technical services for CertainTeed Gypsum.
CertainTeed Gypsum manufactures and markets a broad range of gypsum and finishing products for interior and exterior needs across the U.S. and Canada. This, in combination with the full range of affiliate CertainTeed Corporation's building products, provides architects, contractors, builders and dealers with one partner to provide service and support for commercial and residential building projects.
Quickly gaining traction with architects, contractors, building owners and engineers, BIM is the process of generating and managing digital information on building components and projects using three-dimensional, real-time, dynamic building modeling software. BIM streamlines building design and construction and increases productivity through the efficient sharing of digital information, encompassing building geometry, spatial relationships and geographic information, as well as quantities and properties of building components.
