MEP Components

The architectural and structural designs have gone through iterations to provide the preliminary space and support required for the major MEP components. In this phase, the major duct and pipe routes are added to the model to help both identify the chase requirements and see where these major Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing duct and pipe components may clash with architectural or structural components.

MEP components, a significant quantity of new BIM Model families have been added to the 2010 version. One of the key focuses of CAD BIM Model MEP 2010 is to provide additional families "out-of-box" duct fittings and pipe fittings; additionally rectangular and round fittings are also provided.

MEP components available for use in BIM Model MEP, a new content have been added to the 2009 version:
  • Commercial condensing units up to 130 tons
  • Air-cooled and water-cooled vertical packaged systems up to 60 tons
  • Horizontal and vertical belt-drive DX and CW fan coils, stacked fan coils, and ceiling-mounted fan coils
  • Packaged air handlers up to 25 tons
  • Gas-fired and electric commercial packaged rooftop units to 130 tons
  • Down-flow, vertical, and horizontal high-efficiency water source heat pumps up to 20 tons
  • Occupancy and day lighting sensors
  • Consolidation of BIM Model Architecture light catalogs with BIM Model MEP catalogs
  • Volumetric and direct-indirect lights.

Mechanical electrical and plumbing components are the basis for all building components designed in BIM Model MEP. They offer an open, graphical system for design thinking as well as an opportunity to express design intent at increasingly detailed levels. Use parametric components for even the most elaborate assemblies for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering systems.
