Autodesk Revit 2015 Release 2 Riser out of Annotation

Jason Boehning writes in CAD Learning about the Auto desk Revit 2015 Release 2. There are some new features here, which engineers have been finding their beneficial. Nevertheless, if engineers are not conscious, Autodesk has given Revit 2015 Release 2 to give subscription customers additional tools and functionality.

Jason said, "I am breaking down the new features and functionality into a 10 part series - counting down from 10. This is #6 and jumps into some of the documentation features that were updated."

New features covered in this post (#6):

  • Insert Data Row Tool New Location
  • Select Host for Tags Tool
  • Annotate Stair Treads and Risers.

A slightest alteration that you may find helpful is the new placement of the Insert Data Row tool. It is now available as a button on the Rows panel of the Modify Schedule/Quantities contextual ribbon besides in the Insert drop-down. Remember that this tool is only available when working with room, area, space and key schedules along with sheet lists.

A newest tool that was added in Release 2 is the Select Host tool. This tool can be found on the background ribbon when a tag is selected. The purpose of this tool is to simply select the host element of the selected tag or tags. This may seem pointless as you can simply select the host element yourself, but it may be valuable if the tag was moved far away from the host and the host is unknown.

Although, the major reason of the tool is to select host elements in linked files. In other words, you can select tags that referential elements in a linked model and then use the Select Host tool to select those elements.

The engineers can use the tool with multiple tags selected, but be conscious that the tool will not work with orphaned tags, as they do not have a host.

Therefore, this tool permits engineers to speedily select manifolding elements in a linked file by selecting their tags in the host model. Without this tool, you would have to use a combination of CTRL and TAB several times to achieve the same thing.

Lastly, when using the Stair Tread/Riser Number tool, engineers can manage parameters in the Properties palette before placing the annotation. This permits you to control the parameters earlier besides placing the annotation and then adjusting the parameters. This is very useful when annotating multiple stairs. Just remember that the number annotations are only available for constituent stairs.
